USING BEACONS FOR PROPAGATION
There’s a lot of worldwide beacons on 28 mhz to check the propagation. They are beetwen 28.100 and 28.300 on CW mode.
I use CW/W (cw wide) on my yaesu and a software called cwget to decode CW.
When you find a beacon (your transceiver must be connected to the micro input of the computer, you can use the headphone out from the transceiver)
tune to the beacon until the signal is on top of the black mark (the signal, black mark and red mark must be aligned):

here’s a list of beacons i received during july 2014 using the skypper beam (Signals are the best i received)
Exact frequencies might not be very exact
Most of these beacons use beetwen 1 and 15 watts only
